Susan Macdonald

Susan MacDonald was raised in Haliburton Ontario. She is the daughter of Barbara JoyPeel who is one of Haliburton’s best known potters.

Susan has achieved international recognition in Australia as a multi discipline artist producing works in Wire Sculpture, Wire Furniture, Jewellery, Photography and Felting. Sue’s work utilises the unique textures of the medium she uses and captures the varied natural environments she has experienced.  Sue has completed commissioned pieces in wire sculpture for some of Australia’s leading Landscape Architects as well as wire furniture that are not only functional  but are pieces of art.

Sue has also designed many pieces of unique and individual Jewellery that combines her wire sculpture skills with locally and internationally sourced gems.

Sue’s artistic endeavours evolved into Felting were she combined the textures of Merino, Silk, and Alpaca using traditional hand felting techniques. Her fashionable creations featured in the Australian Easter Show and Ku ring gai Art College Fashion parade.

Sue’s artistic abilities seem to have no bounds. She has the unique ability to weave the natural environment into her textual creations.  Her recent arrival back to the Haliburton community will undoubtedly inspire Sue to produce even more spectacular and enduring works of art.
